MISSONI WINDOW DISPLAY BY PINAR YOLACAN
MISSONI COLLABORATION WITH PINAR YOLACAN, ARTIST
I think it was in my late teens in Liverpool when I was rocking some serious scouse garms that I first meet Missoni. Rowdy, ridiculous and a bit retro I wanted to be covered head to toe in coloured zig zag’s- luckily I never quite had the bank balance to realise that ‘look’. But even those well publicised wags who donned the beret, cape, tights and matching gloves didn’t dent the desires of the stylish sect.
With a few bikini’s, scarf’s and beret of my own under my multicoloured belt, not to mention the dream ‘Missoni home’ den that I have been designing in my head for the past few years; I didn’t think I could like the brand any more than I already do. I took my usual trail through London’s posh streets to check out the new window displays and came across crocheted creatures stood like sculpture. Yeeeesssss. Love these windows!
Kinda freaky and weird the strange specimens make sense when you see their creators other works. Pinar Yolacan is a Turkish artist who lives is New York, her work I had come across a few years back after her successful Mother Goddess series. As you can see the inspiration for the collaboration with Missoni is clear.
Pinar Yolacan’s most succesful works have been within her series Maria and is more recently referred to as the ORIGINAL Lady Gaga meat dress (Yolacan’s came way before). The images are stunning along with being pretty gross…I have only selected a few but there are many more to see. Keep up with all her current work and news on her blog.
All images are not mine but belong to Pinar Yolacan
